Travel writer Richard Guise has recently featured us in his lovely book Over the hill and round the bend - misadventures on a bike in Wales: Having never visited the place, though, I was looking forward to New Quay and met up with Julie at what turned out to be her highest-rated B&B of the trip. Run by an Anglo-Dutch couple, the Craig-y-Wig Guest House, a few minutes walk from the sea front, was immaculately presented, from the spotless bathroom, with its "Beam me up, Scotty" shower cubicle, to the chocolates on the coffee tray, everything was just perfect. And one of our least expensive stopovers, to boot. ..... After our own "dink dinks" we resolved to look at next year's calendar when we got home and slept soundly with the help of another of the Craig-y-Wig's star attractions: the trip's most luxurious, most comfortable bed.

In December 2007 Coast Magazine wrote the following about us: Overlooking New Quay's pretty harbour, this Victorian villa has two large and comfortable guestrooms, offering sea views, giant white towels and roll-top baths. Breakfast includes local bacon and sausages, after which the front garden is a perfect place to gaze through binoculars for a glimpse of the dolphins that play almost daily in the bay.

1st June 2007: we want to thank you both for a wonderful stay in your beautiful house. We couldn't have wished for anything more relaxing. Having had no quality time together this was the perfect place to recharge our batteries, especially in the enormous bed! We could have slept for the entire stay! The breakfast was spot on, the bathroom was lovely, but most of all the warm atmosphere.
